Ginger, aka Sheng Jiang, is a commonly used herb in East Asian Medicine.

It is warming and nourishing. Ginger can help calm the stomach to ease nausea and clear the lungs to settle a cough and resolve phlegm.

Some conditions that may benefit from Ginger include...

  • abdominal pain from eating cold and raw foods

  • epigastric pain

  • morning sickness

  • nausea and vomiting from seafood poisoning

  • indigestion and upset stomach

  • frequent burping

  • sluggish digestion

  • bloating after eating

  • cough with phlegm

Ginger Tea Ingredients:

  • 2 large, raw organic ginger roots

  • 1/2 cup water

Optional:

  • honey (to taste)

Ginger Tea Recipe:

You can make this recipe once a week and take one serving each day.

It should last about a week.

  1. peel all of the ginger

  2. slice ginger into 1/2 inch pieces

  3. place ginger slices into blender with 1/4 cup water to start

  4. blend until ginger is puree

  5. add water if needed to create puree consistency

  6. you may need to scrape sides of blender with a spatula in between blending

  7. pour puree into small pot and simmer for 2 minutes

  8. allow the puree to cool and store in fridge for use

Making a cup of Ginger tea:

Place a teaspoon (or more or less to your liking) of ginger puree into a mug and pour hot water.

For taste and additional health benefits, add some honey.

Honey (Feng Mi in East Asian Medicine) helps soothe the throat and stop cough, supports digestion, and promotes healthy bowel movements.

Enjoy!
